Last week my friend Julia held a benefit for hurricane victims in lieu of having a birthday party. At last count she had collected somewhere in the neighborhood of $4k. That's what I call a damned good birthday gift.

At said party I reached into my coat pocket and found an eyepatch that I had been given while visiting Mentone, Alabama. I enlisted the help of our guest's husband in photographing everyone attending the party wearing the eyepatch. Click on the pic and you'll see some select pirates doing piratey things.
